I am collecting quantitative data based upon teacher observations. I will be gathering individual student data and class data.

Wow. I think I told you this the other night in the breakout session, but I'll say it again. I envy your love of numbers. I struggle with them. I just hope the data collection plan I've come up with will be able to say something, anything, interesting. My question for you is this: What kinds of programs will you be asking your kids to figure out? That sounds like a fun and challenging activity!

I agree that data is a great way for teachers to understand where students are and how teachers instruction is working... or not working!

I agree, quantitative data is so much fun to work with! I too love numbers and love playing with data to see what happens. I agree, that you need to use class data and not individual data. You will get a better idea of what is happening with the class as a whole. Are you looking at the data from just one class period or multiple class periods? It would be interesting to take data from different class periods. Is there a difference in the data between the time of day that you have students in the room? First thing in the morning vs. right after lunch? As a teacher you can feel a difference in the classroom between the morning and afternoons. I wonder if there is a difference that can be shown in the data that you are collecting?
